Quick quiz: What do Adidas and Ticketmaster have in common?

Answer: In the space of just two days in June, both major companies made headlines for cybersecurity breaches.

And they’re not alone.

Cyberattacks have more than doubled in the past year, according to Accenture. And cybersecurity attacks and oversights can costs organizations big in time, money, and reputation.

Kaspersky Lab estimates the average cost of a data breach in North America last year was $1.3 million for enterprises. And it rang up to $117,000 for small and medium-sized businesses. Cybersecurity Ventures expects worldwide cybercrime to cost $6 trillion annually by 2021.

Ouch!

Because cybersecurity has become such an important concern for so many organizations, experts in this space are hard to find. The cybersecurity unemployment sits at zero percent. And that’s not likely to change for the next several years.

Cybersecurity Ventures estimates that by 2019, it says, that will rise to there will be 1.5 million security job openings and predicts this will grow to 3.5 million cybersecurity job openings by 2021.

Cybercrime will more than triple the number of job openings over the next 5 years.
