What were the drivers for the client?
The main driver for the client was cost savings. They were direct with AT&T and Verizon, so they wanted to see if AVANT and their Trusted Advisor could either negotiate those rates down or introduce a competitor to offer everything on a single bill and ideally decrease overall costs.
How did the Trusted Advisor close the deal?
The Trusted Advisor had already built a strong relationship with the client before bringing AVANT in. By the time vendors were involved, the customer trusted that the AVANT Sales Engineering team was guiding them in the right direction. This trust was validated when the vendors they recommended met the client’s needs, with MetTel ultimately winning the opportunity.
How did AVANT support the win?
The Trusted Advisor engaged the AVANT Engineering team to determine which providers to bring in for the customer. While they had an initial idea of whom to approach, the engineers provided thoughtful insight that expanded the list to include AT&T, Verizon, ConectUS, Hyperion, and MetTel. AVANT’s CM and PSM closely managed the opportunity to ensure it progressed smoothly, and ultimately the customer landed on MetTel, who met their requirements for both functionality and price.

Tell us about something you do for AVANT that Trusted Advisors may not know.
I head up Pathfinder Engage, which is the vendor version of Pathfinder. Vendors are able to upload content and contacts, get analytics on usage, and much more! Hopefully we’ll see even more exciting improvements in 2026.
Where are you located?
Chicago, IL (suburbs)
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
Teleportation, hands down. The ability to travel anywhere in an instant – for work or personal reasons – is just too valuable to pass up. Imagine – no more commute times! No airfare, no trains, no long car rides, no hotels. Don’t have to bring a change of clothes anywhere, ever? Don’t have to worry about taking the kids on a plane for 8 hours, because you can teleport there in a second? The amount of time I’d get back, and the stress I’d leave behind, are immeasurable.
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
Probably playing board games with my wife and our friends. I have a massive shelf in my office with the 100+ games that we own, including favorites like Catan (numerous versions), Wingspan (and spinoffs), Lost Ruins of Arnak, Marvel Villainous, and many more. It’s much harder now with a toddler, but we still try to fit in games where we can! If anyone wants to talk about board games, I’m always down.
