Field Sales Engineer (FSE) Practice Lead – Security

Full-time position anywhere in US

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Senior Director of Engineering

Working with: Vendor Management

 

Summary:

The role of FSE Practice Lead (FSE PL) combines the standard FSE role with technical lead responsibilities, outlined below.

 

Product Specialization: Security

 

FSE Responsibilities:

  • Handle primarily mid-sized to large deals; minimum of $10k MRC.
  • Develop and deliver training to Trusted Advisors (TAs) and AVANT Sales teams.
  • Maintain relevant vendor certifications and knowledge of offerings.
  • Understand customer objectives and develop accurate, detailed solutions.
  • Effectively close sales, leveraging SME knowledge across products and vendors.
  • Evangelize AVANT: Sales, Engineering, Marketing, Pathfinder, Research.
  • Lead Marketing events to train and communicate with TAs.
  • Direct the sales process, working with various contacts up to C-level.
  • Build strong relationships w/TAs, across meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Proactively train and strategize with key TAs.
  • Serve as consultative SME resource for development of internal tools.

 

Technical Lead Responsibilities:

  • Drive AVANT’s strategy and vision w/in practice.
  • Provide thought leadership, including blogs, podcasts, and webinars.
  • Identify gaps in portfolio and suggest solutions.
  • Stay current on market trends and analyst reports.
  • Join vendor QBRs and product-specific advisory boards.
  • Assist with vendor evaluation and validation.
  • Cross-train engineers w/in practice.
  • Design and run day-long, practice-specific training events (summits, roadshows).
  • Lead council of thought leaders from vendors and TAs.

 

Requirements & Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of industry experience
    • 10+ years in technical Security roles
    • 5+ years in technical sales or sales engineering roles
  • Industry cybersecurity certifications, such as CompTIA, CISSP, CEH
  • Experience building a cybersecurity program preferred
  • Channel experience preferred
  • Demonstrated sales acumen, with the ability to drive and close sales
  • Exemplary communication skills, especially w/customers & sellers
  • Salesforce experience is a bonus
  • Technologically savvy w/MSFT Office and other Windows applications
  • Ability to travel up to 33%
