Director of Sales

The Director of Sales position leads a national channel sales team and is responsible for developing and managing new and existing relationships within the Strategic Partner division of Avant. Strategic Partners include Value Added Resellers (VAR’s), Managed Services Partners (MSP’s), System Integrators (SI’s), and strategic agent partners. This role will drive net new sales growth & retention strategies by leveraging various departments within Avant to enable and develop consistent sales campaigns & trainings that promote Avant’s product portfolio.

Essential Functions


Essential Enablement Functions:

  • Responsible for the overall growth and relationship with our top Strategic Partners, responsible for building key strategic relationships within our Strategic Partners.
  • Facilitates successful implementation of new programs through the Partner sales organization by ensuring a well-defined, efficient sales process is in place for launch.
  • Establishes a sales training plan focused on developing and reinforcing critical sales competencies with our Partners’ ecosystem.
  • Works closely with senior sales leadership to define the optimal performance management programs required to ensure the “Strategic Partners” sales organizations’ success.
  • Lead the development of programs, which guide “Strategic Partners” to adopt best practices with a goal of achieving consistent discipline and execution.


Essential Sales Management Functions:

  • Manage and lead a seasoned channel sales team, including the achievement of team and individual sales goals.
  • Design, implement, and manage channel sales processes, establishing a high level of quality, accuracy, and process consistency.
  • Serve as a functional subject matter expert, business lead, and the primary liaison for sales, collaborating with appropriate leaders to deliver innovative integrated plans and strategies for reaching company growth targets.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for sales process improvement; work closely with sales management to review sales process quality and prioritize opportunities for improvement. Facilitates successful implementation of new programs through the sales organization by ensuring a well-defined, efficient sales process is in place for launch.
  • Lead account planning for assigned market segments, responsible for the growth, retention, and account management for all customer segments.
  • Responsible for overseeing and managing escalations around customer/partner billing, commissions, and implementation issues by working collaboratively with sales, operations, finance, product, and executive leaders to improve the customer experience.
  • Provide opportunities for internal growth and advancement by measuring professional goals throughout the year.
    Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews with all members of the team.


Essential Data & Analytical Functions:

  • Own the strategy for creation and efficient distribution of sales metrics, reports, and other sales-related business intelligence essential to the organization.
  • Analyze complex information and data, translating these findings into actionable deliverables, strategies, targets, messages, and presentations.
  • Continuously optimize – working with IT to enable technologies, including
  • Salesforce and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technology platforms to increase the productivity and effectiveness of the sales team.
  • Recruit and identify potential new Strategic Partners


Required Skills

  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university; MBA or advanced degree in related field of study preferred.
  • 10-15 years experience in the IT or Telecom Channel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent ability to influence decision-making at all levels of organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales goals Month over Month.
  • Proven Management experience
